THE HOWARD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will be having a special music event featuring Howard County native Jimmi Sexton at the Museum of Howard County History on Sept. 2 from 7-9pm. Sexton and his band will perform an eclectic set of blues classics chronicling the development of the blues sound from a variety of different sounds and influences. Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the door, if not sold out. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be no HCHS member tickets for this event. Part of the proceeds benefit the HCHS. A cash bar for beer and wine will be available. The Museum of Howard County History is located at 8328 Court Ave., Ellicott City. THE HOWARD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY Maryland History Tours, LLC, will now sponsor the Ghost Tours of Ellicott City and "The Spirits" Pub Crawl Tour began April 1, 2017. Tour guides will be provided by the Maryland History Tours, LLC. The tours and crawls will join the HCHS's Historic Walking Tour of Ellicott City as a part of three available tours for the 2017 season. They will run into the Fall, weather permitting. Historic Walking Tours: every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (April through October or by appointment). The tour is offered Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 8:30 p.m. (April-November). Reservations are highly recommended. Space is limited. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join in on the first Friday tours. CHURCH TO HOLD FOOD PANTRY Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold the "Rock of Help" Food Pantry for anyone in the community in need of food from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the church, 4901 Woodbine Road, near Winfield. Non-perishable foods, assorted frozen foods, plus a non-food household item, and children's shoes, are available. Those coming to the food pantry are asked to fill out a short information sheet, then the church gives them a list of available foods to check off what they need. The food pantry will be held Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16, 2017. The church is one-half mile south of Liberty Road on Woodbine Road. CARROLL COUNTY ALATEEN MEETING Every Tuesday at 8 pm, St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, 700 Kreider's Cemetery RD, Westminster, MD 21158. In Alateen meetings, young people share their own experiences-everyone in the meeting has been affected by someone else's drinking. Some currently live with a problem drinker, others do not. Alateens share their feelings, encourage each other, and share how the Alateen program has helped them.
